JOB DESCRIPTION:

WWW technical specialist responsible for building, maintaining, and supporting a high availability WWW content hosting environment 24x7. Responsibilities include solution requirement review of new designs to implement, migration planning, migration delivery, transition support, and technical steady state support of the customer testing/staging/production environments. Must have strong technical, project management, communication, customer interaction, and negotiation skills for various Web Middleware Applications in a fast paced, demanding environment. The positions are 1st, 2nd, and/or 3rd shift. The ability to work independently at home with a supportive Middleware team available via phone, email, and/or instant messaging tool is a must. Support also requires 24x7 on-call via a rotating pager/cell phone.

Job Title: Server Specialist (Linux)

Job Location: Chicago, IL

Work Shift: 1st shift

Level: M

Weekend Coverage: Weekend coverage is required.

On Call: Needs to be on-call

Years Experience:

Travel Required: Travel is required.

Required Skills: Plan Implementation of Operating System(3), Implement Operating System(3), Apply Knowledge of Performance/Capacity Planning(3), Perform Problem Management Assessment/Design(3),

Sun Solaris & Red Hat System Administrator

1. Work on team to support 300+ Servers

2. Install and configure new Sun or Linux Servers

3. Perform OS Patching

4. Perform analysis on incidents involving OS or Hardware.

5. Create reports on performance and capacity needs



5+ years of direct experience as a UNIX administrator in an enterprise environment. Solaris 8,9,10 and Red Hat AS3 is required.



Thorough understanding of UNIX security best practices.



Hands on experience with UNIX admin basics: NIS, DNS, NFS, ssh, host access, patching, file permissions.



Scripting experience: ksh, expect or Perl.



Familiarity with IBM, Sun and HP hardware.



Administrator will build and deploy servers



Will require work during after-hours, weekends and holidays, due to the nature of the clients business.



Participate on a on-call rotation schedule during off-hours with other team members
